December, 2014 Mariana Monteagudo recently won the Tequila Herradura Barrel Art Collection contest with her ‘Happy Barrel’. The competition, organized by the liquor company, required competitors to make an artwork out of a traditional oak barrel.

The Latin American artist applied her craftmanship in making doll sculptures to fashion a unique tequila barrel which combined canva and paint, papier mache and mixed media techniques.

The competition received considerable media coverage with newspapers publishing interviews with Monteagudo. The San Diego Tribune published an article which included several quotes from her. El Nuevo Herald, Diario Las Americas, and El Estimulo also ran stories about the competition.
